Recent figures show that the housing market is set to stablise in 2009.

Lloyds TSB will try to break the deadlock at the lowest rungs of the mortgage market with a new deal for first-time buyers that requires parents to stump up their savings as a guarantee against the home loan.

Despite falling house prices and record low interest rates, 65% of non-homeowners still believe they will never have enough money to get on the property ladder.

There has been a resurgence of interest in the property market, probably reflecting both an increased confidence in the future of the market and a belief that house prices are bottoming out.
